Hippolyte Hautin Boulanger Choisy le Roi Japanese Aesthetic Majolica Karate Plate - Sold

This is a rare Hippolyte Hautin Boulanger & Cie, Choisy le Roi, Japanese Aesthetic majolica plate showing karate and dating from the 1870's.

Hippolyte Boulanger et Cie of Choisy-Le-Roi was also known as Hautin Boulanger and this series of plates illustrates different sports. The karate plate being one of the rarer plates in this series.

Date: 1870's
Manufacturer: Hippolyte Boulanger et Cie, Choisy-Le-Roi
Size: the plate is 223mm (9") in diameter
Condition: generally very good for age. There is some cracking to the glaze and a firing bubble in the glaze just below the kick boxer's hand. Please see photographs for detailed condition.
