This listing is for a rare antique Pauline de Courcelles (Knip) 1805 large Colombe Double Huppe print.

Pauline Knip née Pauline Rifer de Courcelles (26 July 1781-18 April 1851) was a French ornithological artist who was married to Joseph August Knip from 1808 until divorce in 1824. Her paintings of birds, particularly pigeons, were used in Coenraad Jacob Temminck's multi-part work 'Histoire Naturelle des Pigeons et des Gallinaces'. Born in Paris, she studied art under Jacques Barraband and exhibited her watercolours and pen illustrations at the 1808, 1810, 1812 and 1814 salons.

The approximate size is including mount 582mm (23.25") x 488mm (19.5"); image 438mm (17.5") x 343mm (13.75").

There are some small areas of foxing and a tiny damp stain to bottom margin, otherwise it is in very good condition for its age. Please see photographs for detailed condition.
