John Moyr Smith, 1876 Greek Musicians Cymbal Player Minton Tile - Sold
Designed by John Moyr Smith (1839-1912) in the Aesthetic Movement style, this tile was manufactured by Minton, Stoke-on-Trent.
It depicts a cymbal player from the scarce Greek Musicians series, 1876. Signed on the front 'Moyr Smith', the tile is impressed to the rear with 'Mintons China Works, Stoke on Trent'. Please also see our other Moyr Smith tiles.
The tile has been cracked and repaired to the bottom right as you see from the photographs; however, the repair could be tidied up and the tile is still a lovely display piece.
