Aesthetic Movement Brownhills Pottery Company Kioto Pattern Serving Platter Dated 1883 - Sold

A fine Aesthetic Movement Brownhills Pottery Company Kioto pattern serving platter dated 1883. Christopher Dresser may be the designer as he sold one off patterns to various potteries around this time and the pattern is typical of his Japanese influenced design. The platter is of a rectangular oval form with rounded ends and is printed in brown with a motif of cranes and prunus design with bamboo and decorative patterned and line borders. It has a printed B.P.Co mark to the base along with the pattern name Kioto as well as a printed registration mark dating it to 1883.
