Antique Japanese Carved Wood and Soapstone Four Panel Screen Early 1900s - Sold
This is an antique Japanese carved wood and soapstone four panel Shibayama screen from the early 1900s. It is currently arranged as 2 x 2 panels; however it could easily be assembled as a four panel screen.
It is made from carved and ebonised wood, and carved soapstone. The four central panels are surrounded with a red lacqueur border.
Date: Early 1900's
Country of Origin: Japan
Materials: Ebonised wood and soapstone
Size: The approximate dimensions are: 1540mm (62") wide x 860mm (35") high.
Condition: As usual in these screens, there appears to be some soapstone fragments missing, but overall condition is good for the age of the item. Please see photographs for detailed condition.
